St Pölten’s town hall stands at the southern end of the Rathausplatz. The building is made up of several different building styles from the Romanesque vaults, Gothic niches, renaissance inscriptions, Baroque façade and Renaissance tower modified by Joseph Munggenast in 1727. The octagonal tower on the south side dates from the time when the two original Gothic buildings were joined together. Inside, the mayor’s chambers has a stunning ceiling showing the portraits of 12 Habsburg Emperors which was executed in 1722.
