The Stadtwerkstatt, which was established in 1979 as an initiative to promote popular culture in the city of Linz, moved to its present location in 1980. It is primarily a theatrical and musical performance venue but also hosts exciting exhibitions of contemporary art, film, video, and photography. The eclectic mix of exhibitions, performances and activities are drawn from all over the world. The associated Café Strom at Kirchengasse 4 presents a continuous program of contemporary and world music.
