Mistelbach’s Stadtpfarrkirche can be found on the two hundred and twenty eight metre high Kirchenberg overlooking the town. The Gothic hall church, dedicated to St. Martin, dates from approximately 1480 to 1500. The interior of the building is Baroque but contains many fine works of religious art from earlier periods. The Gothic sandstone statue of the Madonna, from 1410, is one of the most outstanding of its kind. At the back of the church there is a stone carving of a statue named the “cursed toad”.
