Maria Langegg is a somewhat neglected cultural treasure in the Wachau. The former Servite monastery in the Dunkelsteinerwald consists of a beautiful Baroque church, a magnificent treasury containing paintings and devotional objects as well as an amazing library. The church was built by Michael Ehmann in 1775 and is especially notable for its ceiling frescos and altarpieces by Josef von Mölk, amongst which are depictions of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, The Annunciation and Mary as Healer of the Sick.
