The Protestant astronomer lived in Linz from 1612 to 1626 where he worked as a mathematics teacher at the Landschule and as an astrologer. From 1622 onwards he lived with his family in this house, which belonged to the Linz merchant Altenstrasser and here he completed The Rudolphine Tables. The tables, completed in 1623 but not published until 1627, contain a star catalogue and planetary tables which are used for locating the planets of the solar system. Political and religious tensions finally forced Kepler to abandon Linz in favour of Ulm.
