The Augustinerkirche and monastery were donated to the monastic order in 1338 by Otto den Fröhlichen. The existing building dates from the late Baroque, having been remodelled between 1770 and 1772, with a late 19th century polygonal spire designed by the architect Max Kropf, who also designed Korneuburg’s town hall. Inside the church visitors will find outstanding frescos by Anton Maulpertsch and paintings from the schools of Maulpertsch und Kremser Schmid. The monastic buildings themselves have served a variety of purposes; as a hospital on the one hand and a pioneer school on the other.
