On the Pfaffenberg south of Bad Deutsch-Altenburg a temple precinct was uncovered, dedicated to Jupiter Optimus Maximus Carnuntinus and the imperial cult. The remains of the Pannonian army’s temples, including pillars, altars and hundreds of inscription fragments have been preserved by excavations carried out by the University of Vienna. Because if the encroachment of a large quarry, the finds are to be housed in a museum on the Kirchenberg.
