The thirty thousand square metre Schloßpark surrounds Groß-Siegharts castle in the heart of the town. The castle, which dates from the 12th century, is the seat of local government but can be visited by appointment. Such a visit is worthwhile as the interior boasts outstanding Baroque frescos by the master Carlo Carlone in the chapel. The landscaped park itself is beautifully maintained and contains many fine trees, a duck pond, a children’s play area and a golf shooting range. There are also extensive tennis facilities which are used annually for the Austrian open for wheelchair bound tennis players.
