Ybbsitz is a major stop on the Ybbstalbahn, a commercial narrow gauge railway which connects towns and cities in the Ybbs valley. The railway was first conceived in the 1870s but work on its construction didn’t start until much later in the century. The railway company operate regular services for commuters and school children using modern diesel motor coaches and it’s a very effective way of touring the area. In addition to the up-to-date locomotives and rolling stock there are much older diesel and steam engines which run on weekends and holidays for holiday makers and day trippers.
