This 1,000 sq. kilometres of forested hills stretches from the north western tip of Vienna to the foothills of the Alps. Bounded by the Triesting, Gölsen, Traisen and Danube rivers, the hills are the transition from the Eastern Alps to the Carpathians. Populated by beeches, oaks, hornbeams, conifers and pines, as well as an array of wildlife this is a very popular recreational area. Visitors can experience a multitude of activities including skiing, fishing, cycling, golf and horse riding but to name a few.
