The Dreifaltigkeitssäule, or Pestsäule as its sometimes known, is typical of the type found all over Austria. It was erected in 1714 to commemorate deliverance from the terrible plagues of 1679 and 1713 which decimated the population of Wolkersdorf. The beautifully designed, nine metre high column, crowned by a cross, is surrounded at its base by six life sized statues of Saints Maria Immaculata, Rochus, Barbara, Karl Borromaeus, John of Nepomuk and Sebastian.
