The Lebensspuren Museum is housed in an English style villa designed by the Berlin architect Hermann Muthesius. Muthesius was heavily influenced by late 19th century English architecture, particularly the Arts and Crafts Movement. The museum houses a large collection of objects associated with the marks made by humans over the last 5000 years, from Sumerian roll seals and Baroque seals and stamps to the latest stamping machines. There is a historic workshop showing how complex stamps were assembled from differ components and visitors can experiment making their own stamps. This part of the museum also focuses on activities for children
