The Große Basilika is a modern stone circle, the work of Franz Xaver Ölzant, inspired by the architecture of Roman sacred buildings, echoing the layout of a circular basilica such as the church of Santa Costanza in Rome. Outside the circle, by the forest, are two large lying meditation stones. The stone circle symbolizes aspects of humanity, such as art, culture and society, which outlast the limitations of mortality. The site has become more than a place for contemplation and hosts various events including charity runs.
