Possibly the oldest church in Vienna, ‘Ruprechtskirche’ dates back to the 11th century and is named after St. Ruprecht, the patron saint of the salt merchants of Vienna. The church is located in the ‘Bermuda Triangle, amongst a multitude of incongruous bars and discotheques, but contains stained glass windows dating back to the 1300’s as well as 13th century bells; the oldest in Vienna. Although damaged, rebuilt and altered many times during its history, mass is still held here along with frequent art exhibitions.
