A must for all horse lovers. The School is intrinsically linked to the breeding of Lippizaner horses, a cross between Spanish, Arab and Berber strains, by Archduke Karl in the 16th century. The equestrian ballet is a site to behold as this is the only place in the world where ‘haute école’ is still practised in its original form. Visitors can marvel at the strictly schooled riders and stallions as they perform precise movements in harmony with music. Performances take place in the riding hall, completed in 1725 and designed by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach.
