The amazing Klangturm, which is St Pölten’s main landmark was constructed in 1996 to the design of architect Ernst Hoffmann. 1000 square metres of glass are carried by the steel skeleton to a height of 67 metres. The actual overall height is over 77 metres including the broadcast tower mounted on top. There is a flight of 280 steps leading to the observation deck, entrance to which is free, from where visitors can enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the city. The building is also used for exhibitions and other cultural events including multi-media presentations.
