Waidhofen an der Thaya lies at the rural heart of the Waldviertel so its appropriate that it should have a museum devoted to country living, work, handicrafts and agriculture. The Silomuseum has separate sections devoted to different aspects of cultivation and animal husbandry in the Waldviertel; flax production, grain and poppy production, hay growing, cattle and milk processing. Additionally visitors can learn about rural life, cooking, supply of produce and transportation from the 18th century to the present.
