The Salzburgring, situated in a wooded valley between Koppl and Pleinfeld, is a 4.2 Km long racetrack. The track is laid out with two long fast straights with a sweeping, high speed bend at one end and a tight bend at the other end. In spite of the simple layout, the track has a reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights. The course dates from 1968 and is used mainly for touring car races but is also famous for hosting several international Grand Prix and Austrian motorcycling events.
