The intriguing Wasser Museum, on the Münchsberg, was founded by two former Salzburg Waterworks employees who had between them collected a huge number of items connected with the water industry in Salzburg. The exhibition is, in fact, located in one of the elevated reservoirs which was in use until relatively recently. The collection includes not only modern artifacts such as pumps, hydrants, maintenance equipment and meters but also historic items dating back as far as the 9th century. There is also a reconstruction of the Waterworks engineering office showing how the draughtsmen meticulously created maps and plans by hand.
