The Schauspielhaus is the largest non-profit making theatre in Austria. Its carefully selected drama programme offers plays from antiquity, the classical period right up to modern times even to new, experimental theatre and is suitable for theatregoers of all ages. There are two auditoriums in the theatre building which has its origins in the Middle Ages. The foyer is used for readings, private showings and exhibitions. The theatre also has a famous innovative drama school.
