Seewalchen’s Pfarrkirche, dedicated to Sankt Jakobus der Ältere, is a typical late Gothic building with later modifications and additions. The original building was begun in 1439 and completed in 1476 and was remodelled and enlarged in the 17th and 19th centuries. The 19th century remodelling involved the replacement of the Baroque altar and the addition of three late Gothic carved figures of Maria and Saints Katharina and Barbara. Two late Gothic side altars from Friedburg were installed in 1954, one at the north end of the church, the other on the ground floor of the tower. The helmet shaped spire on the church tower dates from around 1900.
