Ybbsitz’s parish church is a beautifully proportioned building, parts of which are Gothic in origin whilst the overriding architectural style is Baroque, as exemplified by the tower with its onion dome dating from 1794. The interior contains an array of wonderful features, for example the triumphal arch from 1419 and the amazing marble high altar, once housed in the Carthusian monastery in Gaming. This altar boasts two outstanding paintings by Andrea Celesti. The 17th century altar in the Mary Chapel has a late Gothic statue of the Virgin and over the entrance hall there is a chapel with an early Baroque altar with a statue of the patron saint Johannes der Täufer.
