Drawing its exhibits from a collection of around 200,000 preserved items, some dating back as far as 3000 BC, this museum, in the centre of the Imperial Palace, has the largest collection of papyri in the world. Visitors can gain a greater understanding of various aspects of life in Ancient Egypt with the permanent exhibits which include texts and artefacts relating to the Egyptian obsession with the afterlife as well as some fascinating Egyptian textiles. Texts from other civilizations and cultures can also be found here and include the Greeks, Assyrians and Hebrews.
