The Palmenhaus is housed in perhaps the worlds’ most beautiful ‘Jugendstil’ greenhouse, which was designed by Friedrich Ohmann around 1900. The Emperor used this greenhouse for gardening and relaxation but it has now become a popular tourist attraction. The 2050 sq metres are filled with plants used to decorate official functions. Hidden within the wonderfully renovated and refurbished art nouveau glass canopy is a fashionable, yet informal, restaurant, one of Vienna’s most popular, as well as a Butterfly House.
