Originally built in 1357 the palace was torn down by Rudolf Khuen von Belasy at the end of the 16th century and rebuilt in Renaissance style. Having changed hands several times it came into possession of the Pálffy family in the late 17th century. As well as its fabulous Baroque Hall with beautiful décor and paintings from the Palffy dynasty, the palace is famous for the 16th of October 1762 when child prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gave a debut recital of ‘Figaro’ to a private audience. Today, the palace is still used as an exhibition and concert venue.
