The Neukloster abbey church is a former Gothic hall church which was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1736 by the architect Martin Winter. It was here, in 1793, that Mozart’s Requiem was first performed as a memorial to the late wife of Count Walsegg-Stuppach. The interior of the church contains an early Baroque pulpit and a high altar, from 1693, by Jakob Lindner. This is complemented by a number of exceptional side altars such as the Guardian Angel Altar, by Martino Altomonte, which shows an angel leading a child up to heaven.
