Existing since the 16th century, when mainly milk bottles were sold, Turkish, Arabic, Slav and Chinese are amongst some of the nationalities represented as this multi-cultural market; Vienna’s most popular. There are a wide range of specialist food stalls including fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world, exotic herbs, cheese, baked goods, meats, and seafood, as well as clothes stalls and a regular flea market. It is also a great place to eat on a budget with lots of small restaurants offering sushi, kebabs, fish, seafood and traditional Viennese food such as Kaiserschmarrn and Palatschinken.
