The Museum Arbeitswelt is Steyr’s industrial museum. It was set up following a Upper Austrian exhibition “Arbeit/Mensch/Maschine” which was staged in 1987 to chart the development of industry from the earliest times to the present. The museum aims to continue documenting the forces and developments which change industry and the way we work, particularly in the light of globalisation. The organisation is housed in two original 19th century factory buildings connected by a steel and glass extension designed by the architect Arno Gruenberger. There are three halls, used to stage an impressive range of exhibitions, a terrace café and a bar
