Opened in 1928 and housed in the ‘Corps de Logis’ part of the Neue Burg, this museum stores and manages thousands of secular and religious artefacts, mainly relating to races that have not used a written language. Exhibits of particular note are the Polynesian items from Captain Cook’s expeditions, and a spectacular Aztec gilded feather headdress from the 16th century and belonging to Emperor Montezuma. Many of the displays are temporary due to the vast amount of items in the Museum’s collection.
