This museum is housed in the Seifensiederhaus, ‘Soap Boilers House’, one of the oldest buildings in Leopoldstadt and dating back to 1685. Incorporating what was once the Imperial Viennese Police Museum, the museum opened in 1991, and the 20 rooms depict the history of the law and police as well as criminality from the late Middle Ages to recent times. Exhibits include photos from murder scenes, relics of executed criminals, documents, police weapons and uniforms and information on subjects such as the assassination of Graf Latour and the kidnapping of the industrialist Walter Michael Palmer.
