The Mozartsaal is to be found in a former inn, named "Zur Goldenen Sonne", at 23 Herrengasse. The inn is famous as having accommodated the six year old Mozart during a break in an autumn journey from Passau to Vienna when he stopped in Ybbs to perform at the former Franciscan monastery outside the city gates. He remembered with affection his stay at the inn as he avoided having to stay in the unheated monastery. The splendid stucco ceiling of the hall is a reminder of the generous sponsorship of the rebuilding of Ybbs after the 1716 fire by Emperor Karl VI. Today the building houses the city museum.
