The delightful Baroque gardens of the Schloss Mirabell, considered as some of the most beautiful in Europe, were laid out by the Baroque architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach in the late 17th century and later altered in the 18th century. The gardens contains many fine architectural features; arcades, fountains and sculptures. The Pegasus fountain in the gardens was originally part of the horse well on Kapitelplatz and it is near here that you will find the hedge arcade that featured in the film “The Sound of Music”.
