Tulln’s Minoritenkirche, in the north west of the old town, dates from 1739 and is regarded as one of Austria’s most beautiful late Baroque buildings. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St. John of Nepomuk to whom the ceiling frescos, fashioned by an anonymous artist, are devoted. The wonderfully preserved secondary rooms, the Loretto chapel, vestry, and crypt, are worth seeing and there is a particularly fine anonymous altarpiece which depicts The Apotheosis of John of Nepomuk.
