The Marionette Museum is located cellars of the world famous Hohensalzburg Fortress. This unique museum contains many historic marionettes from the well known Salzburg Marionette Theatre as well as items from various countries in Europe and Asia. The founding of the museum in 1998 coincided with the 85th birthday of the Marionette Theatre. There are opportunities for visitors to the museum to try out the marionettes themselves and acquire souvenirs, such as marionettes, videos and postcards, at the museum shop.
