The Urgeschichtssammlung und Heimatmuseum was founded by a local headmaster in Sierndorf’s primary school in 1964. The museum originally housed many archaeological finds from Sierndorf and the surrounding district, especially those from the early Stone Age and later prehistoric times. Subsequently, the impressive collection has been extended to cover all aspects of local popular culture; public education, everyday living, agriculture, viticulture and religion. The period from the early 19th century to the early 20th century is particularly well represented.
