The historic Linzergasse has been a major thoroughfare for centuries and was once on the main route out of Salzburg to Linz and Vienna. It is lined with beautiful old buildings, some dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries, many of them occupied by craftsmen, small shops, restaurants and hostelries, giving the street its distinct Salzbug character. Places of note on the street include St. Sebastian’s church and cemetery, the house of Paracelsus and the Engel Apothecary where the poet Georg Trakl once worked. From here you can walk up the Kapuzinerberg to enjoy stunning views of the city.
