Photography, video, film, and new media, as well as more traditional art forms are presented here in this important Viennese centre for contemporary art. Large, subject-specific exhibitions show developments from Modernism to the present-day, along with significant contributions from post-1945 Austrian art. 1992 saw the opening of this institution but it was re-housed to its current location in 2001. As an internationally renowned centre for contemporary art it has had over one million visitors and presented thousands of works by more than 1,000 different artists.
