Designed by British sculptor Rachel Whitread, this is a memorial to the 65,000 Austrian Jews who died in concentration camps during World War II. This politically and culturally significant work of art is titled “The Nameless Library". Eventually unveiled in 2000, the inside-out collection of books, with their spines turned inwards, has inscribed, on the low plinth, the names of Nazi death camps along with a homage, in English, German and Hebrew, to those who died.
