Although damaged during an air raid in 1944, this Baroque palace was completely restored in 1990 and today houses temporary art exhibitions and is owned by the Kunsthistoriches Museum. Designed by architects Domenico Martinelli and Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and commissioned by Count Ferdinand Harrach the building took some 30 years to complete and was finished in 1699. This former home of the Austro-German noble family was once a hub of the Viennese social scene with Rüdiger von Starhemberg and Prince Eugene of Savoy visiting on several of occasions.
