The Freimaurermuseum can be found in Schloss Rosenau in Zwettl. Its location in the castle perfectly fits the theme of freemasonry as these particular premises are not typical of Austrian castles. The whole architectural layout, including the castle church, exhibits a secret Masonic symbolism and the museum is sympathetically integrated into this concept. The outstanding Baroque interior of the castle is the work of the master builder Joseph Munggenast and the painters Paul Troger, Daniel Gran and Rincolin, who lies buried in Rosenau. The collections illustrate the principles and practise of freemasonry.
