Ybbsitz has a centuries old association with iron working and the Schmiedemeile is a themed three kilometre walk around the city which takes in a number of places of interest and relevance to metalworking. The walk goes via the Ferrum iron working museum and three historic hammer mills and passes through some very attractive countryside in Ybbstal. Along the way visitors will also see the Erlebnisbrücke, an iron bridge constructed to commemorate the lost industrial past of the area.
