The Volkskundemusem if housed in the Hellbrunner Monatsschlössl (Schloss Waldems) on Hellbrunner Berg overlooking the Schloss Hellbrun. The building, hunting lodge built for Archbishop Markus Sitkus, dates from the 17th century. Founded in the early 20th century, the museum gives a comprehensive view of the lives, culture and customs of the people of Salzburg with exhibitions devoted to housing, folk medicine and religious beliefs. One of the high points of the museum is its exhibition of traditional costume from the Salzburg Province.
