The Historisches Feuerwehrzeughaus is housed in former early Baroque stables of the St. Florian monastery. The monastery has Austria’s oldest operating fire brigade which was founded in 1847. The museum charts the development of the fire brigade both technically and socially. There are many examples of historic fire fighting devices in addition to modern fire protection and prevention technology and disaster management. There are exhibits of horse drawn and motorised appliances, uniforms, fire fighter’s personal effects and sections devoted to the other fire brigades of Upper Austria.
