The Festspielhaus opened in 1997 at the heart of St. Pölten’s cultural district. It was designed by the architect Klaus Kada to act as the city’s premier concert venue. There are four halls of which the largest can seat over a thousand. With the excellent modern acoustics the hall is ideal for the performance of dance, music and theatre and can also be converted into a ballroom. The smaller, more intimate Haydn hall, seating 220, is used for chamber music, readings and small scale theatrical productions.
