In common with almost every town in lower Austria, Waidhofen has a handsome historic parish church which shows Gothic and Baroque influences. But Waidhofen has something else in the form of its Evangelische Kirche der Frohen Botschaft. This little gem of a church, designed by Professor Efthymios Warlamis, is a modern building with a unique, almost organic form. Although the elements of a conventional church are present, for example a belfry, the church has an unusual form, which the Professor arrived at in an effort to compromise artistic vision with spirituality.
