The inspiration to build a new church on the outskirts of Wiener Neustadt came from the young curate Arnold Dolezal. He was concerned that the expansion of the city had left worshippers stranded in the suburbs. A former leather and shoe factory was acquired and converted into a place of worship by the architect Clemens Holzmeister and master builder Rupert Dinhobl. Although the building is somewhat plain on the outside, the interior is delightfully modern. There is a Madonna by the Innsbruck artist Hans Andre and wonderful painted glass by Thiem Samassa.
