The ‘Museum of the Cathedral’ is a treasure trove of valuable treasures and artwork from the Cathedral and surrounding churches. The 14th century painting of Duke Rudolf IV, the oldest portrait in the West, is the most treasured possession but other exhibits include medieval sculptures and outlandish Baroque art such as the Madonna shrine. Saint Leopold’s hipbone, a piece of the Virgin Mary’s belt and St. Stephen’s cranium are some of the more macabre but intriguing religious relics.
