Engelbert Dollfuss, who lived from 1892 to 1934, was an Austrian statesman who served first as Chancellor and then as dictator of Austria from 1932 until 1934, when he was assassinated by the Nazis. His birthplace in Texing is today a museum and contains over one hundred exhibits and two hundred and twenty photographs connected with his life. The building itself is largely unchanged since he lived there and has a panelled room dating from 1779. An area of the building is devoted to modern history, from 1887 to 1938, which helps to illuminate Dollfuss’ life.
