Wiener Neustadt’s Stadttheater is housed in a historic building in the heart of the city. The building was originally the Church of the Carmelites, but, following the dissolution of the order in the second half of the 17th century by order of Emperor Josef II it was converted into a theatre. Since 1794 it has been the city’s civic theatre. The theatre features an exciting programme of plays, concerts, exhibitions and events.
