Larger than the entire Innere Stadt of Vienna and with a greater population than the whole of the city, this is one of the largest cemeteries in Europe; over 300,000 graves with in excess of 3 million people having been buried here. The Tombs of Honour (Ehrengräber), some magnificent gravestones among them, hold the remains of such renowned names as Beethoven, Schubert, Gluck, Brahms, Wolf, Strauss, Zemlinsky and Schönberg; some being disinterred from other cemeteries. Although buried in St.Marxer Friedhof in an unmarked grave, there is also a memorial to Mozart.
